Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account details: your name, username, email address and password (stored only as a one-way hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google instead of a password.
• Profile details: your year of birth, gender, city and state, and optionally a phone number, bio and website. We ask for your year of birth only, not your full date of birth.
• Tournament activity: your registrations, partners and teams, and match schedules, scores and results.
• Technical data: a sign-in session cookie, and basic request information (such as IP address and browser type) used to keep the service secure and to limit abuse. We use privacy-friendly analytics that measure page views without advertising cookies.

How we use it

• To run your account and let you register for and follow tournaments.
• To check age-group and gender-category eligibility for events you enter. Mismatches are shown to the organizer for review.
• To send emails you need: verification links, password resets, sign-in codes and tournament notices.
• To keep MatchGrounds secure and fix problems.

Information we receive from Google is used only to sign you in and create your MatchGrounds account. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell it.

What other people can see

Your public profile shows your display name, city, state, teams and match results, depending on the visibility you choose in your settings. It never shows your email address, phone number, year of birth or gender. Organizers of a tournament you enter can see the details you provide for that registration, such as your name and contact number.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We use these service providers to operate MatchGrounds, and they process data on our behalf:

• Vercel (hosting and analytics)
• Neon (database)
• Resend (sending email)
• Ably (live score updates)
• Google (optional sign-in)

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Cookies

We use a cookie to keep you signed in and to protect sign-in flows. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your information while your account is active. To have your account and personal information deleted, email us at the address below. Some tournament results may be kept in anonymized form so past brackets stay intact.

Age

MatchGrounds is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
